Shanghai-based designer Fiona Peng's Punk Pilgrim collection offers us another boldly modern take on Old China with the Beijing handbag. When Peng first laid eyes on the ornate traditional floral fabrics found in her Beijing, Sanya and Banna lines, she knew she had to use them on her bags and clutches—the look reminded her of Victorian wallpaper, only very Chinese.

While we're not sure what to think of the "tycoon" label, we were excited about Mudan Boutique's first mention in the media. SH, a popular weekly English-language magazine in Shanghai, included our store in their July 28 cover story entitled "
All Mudan customers who made a purchase in July were eligible to win a random drawing for a $50 store gift certificate. And Sandy in Pennsylvania was the winner. Way to go, Sandy! (We'd like to point out, for those readers who know that Mudan Boutique's president has a mom named Sandy who lives in Pennsylvania, that the winner was not that Sandy. That would have been against some kind of ethical rule, we're sure.)
